DC UNiverse Relaunch....Bad Ideal

So according to sites such as cbr, and Ign, Dc is planning a line wide relaunch in September after Flashpoint. I was afraid this was going to happen. I think its a really bad ideal and just a way for Dc to make some more money. Their excuse is that it would make comics easier for new comic book readers to get into. New comic readers are always good but this way I highly disagreed with. More reason reason why I dislike it after the jump.

DC's Senior Vice President-Sales Bob Wayne explained that the new No. 1 issues "will introduce readers to a more modern, diverse DC Universe, with some character variations in appearance, origin and age. All stories will be grounded in each character's legend -- but will relate to real world situations, interactions, tragedy and triumph.""Some of the characters will have new origins, while others will undergo minor changes,". I call Bullshit. I got a couple of problems with this. First there was nothing wrong with the character orgins, if you want to make them more modern do it within the comic book instead of taking the easy way out and rebooting.
By doing this they may be losing readers. Readers that have been following a character path and all of sudden its changed would be highly upset. For example Dick is the new Batman, his fans rejoiced at this, I know i did. It felt like what should happen. Robin to Nightwing to Batman, he took the right steps. Now what if in September he is Robin again. A huge slap in our face. Also what to become of my new favorite character Damein, is he still going to be Robin, is he ever going to even be born? Batman and Robin is my favorite Dc comic this reboot seems like it going to take that away.
That  bring me to the next comic affected; Batman Inc. That a recently new comic, and in my opinion been going pretty well. Are they just going to abrutly end it, or cancel it. Or reboot it as well with only a few issue in. There way to many questions that comes up. Ign got a great article on some of these questions;here the link http://comics.ign.com/articles/117/1171803p1.html.
If this is about bringing new readers in their better ways of doing it. How about point 1 issues like Marvel is currently doing. Or every year release a catch up book of the character orgins, and what took place the last year. Its very simple a comic of a specific character history would get the job done. It would bring in interesting readers without going the whole reboot route. That is just a easy way out.
This really anger me that Dc is doing this, they are changing the history of characters that many people been following just to make it better for new readers. You cant just isolate and eliminate the old ones, and being a fairly recent new fan to the Dc universe in comics i feel betrayed. It feels like the stuff i collect and really got into is going to mean nothing now on. Only time will tell how this will work out, but something tells me i wont be collecting Dc comics for much longer.
